Like Destiny or Diablo, the Borderlands franchise relies on loot drops to incentivize players. As fans pump more and more hours into the game, they will receive better equipment to wear and more interesting weapons to try. More density in this regard means more reason for players to keep coming back. While the developers have shown off some of the cool equipment players will get in Borderlands 3, like a massive bear mech, there hasn’t been a lot of word on how players will earn these rewards.

In a recent interview, Anthony Nicholson, senior producer at Gearbox, outlined some of what players can expect will fill their time in Borderlands 3. While the main story will clock in at around a franchise standard 30-35 hours and include a bunch of additional sidequests, the rest of the game will feature a whole host of other wild challenges. Nicholson lists some activities players can expect in the lengthy game in the enormous world of Pandora:
Over the past few months, Gearbox has given fans a generous look at what they can expect in the upcoming game. They have revealed numerous characters, weapons, and even 15 minutes of gameplay for Borderlands 3’s opening mission. It feels like they have revealed a lot of the game already, but apparently, fans still have a ton more to see.
For the most part, fans of the franchise have waited patiently for this new installment over the last seven years, so with everything shown so far, they can likely wait a few more weeks. It sounds like when it finally drops next month, they will have a lot of game to sink their teeth into, which is certainly a good thing.
Borderlands 3 launches September 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
