When Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition releases on April 3, fans can pick it up on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $29.99. However, those that already own Borderlands for PC will get all of the new content as part of a free update.
The new content in Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition certainly sounds like it will make a return trip to Pandora worth it. Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition will be adding 4-player split-screen co-op, 4k graphics, new weapons, improved character customization, gold chests and keys, and comes packed with all of the DLC. Additionally, it will add a mini-map to the screen and will rework the final boss fight to make it more exciting for returning players.
It’s possible that Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition will have some other changes and surprises in store, but fans will have to wait until its April 3 release date to find out. At the very least, they should be able to expect a souped-up version of the 2009 looter-shooter classic that could help tide them over until Borderlands 3’s launch.
One detail about Borderlands 3 that wasn’t announced at PAX East was when exactly its launch would be. However, fans have analyzed the Borderlands 3 trailer and have come to the conclusion that the game will likely launch in October of this year. Whether or not the clues in the trailer are actually pointing to an October 2019 release date is up for debate, but more should come to light in the coming months.
In the meantime, Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition and the 4k update for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will be available on April 3 to keep fans occupied until Borderlands 3 is ready for launch.
